Effective August 8, 2012, several changes in Colorado Notary Laws based on House Bill HB 12-1274. See SOS Notary Bulletin, 7/24/2012, for details. Learn How to Become a Colorado Notary Public Through lecture, review and simple exercises, students will learn Colorado Notary law and be able to apply or renew to become commissioned as a Colorado Notary. Current, expired and renewing Notaries will benefit from the review and tips for avoiding common mistakes and problems. Marketing ideas will show how a mobile Notary or Notary Signing Agent can work from home to earn part-time income or build a business or career. Law firms, accountants, tax preparers, secretaries, office managers, health care, medical clinics, financial advisors, insurance agents, real estate brokers, contractors, car dealers, law enforcement, legal process servers, human resources, mailing services, hotels, apartments, banks, lenders and title companies may wish to add or expand Notary services. Demand is increasing, as more people require Notaries for estate planning, medical, real estate, loans, business and other legal documents. No prior legal background is required. Notaries do not give legal advice. Students must bring a current driver's license or photo ID to class. Students will receive a Certificate of Course Completion upon successful completion of the class. After the Notary training class, students must also pass the "open book" online Colorado Notary Exam and print out their exam completion certificate to submit with their Colorado Notary Application. Follow the instructions for electronic filing of your application. Fill out your notary application form online and pay the application fee online. Then print out your completed application form and have it notarized. Order your Notary supplies and equipment, such as business cards, a Notary journal, a rubber ink stamp, inkless thumbprinter pad, inkjet and laser printer toner cartridges, computer and cell phone supplies, office supplies, Notary books and a Notary website from our Notary Supplies page. Notary journals from the National Notary Association (NNA) are available for sale during training classes for $20.
