Include specific details. Attach copies of any notarized documents or other relevant documents mentioned in or related to your notary complaint.\u00a0Do not send\u00a0original documents. Most complaints are resolved without a <strong>hearing<\/strong>, but\u00a0you might be asked to be a <strong>witness<\/strong>. If you are unable or unwilling to testify about your\u00a0complaint, please let the SOS know.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The SOS does not provide <strong>legal advice<\/strong>. To preserve your legal rights, you may\u00a0wish to consult with a private <strong>attorney<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Secretary\u00a0of State only has <strong>jurisdiction<\/strong> to investigate possible violations of the <strong>Colorado Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (RULONA)<\/strong>. You can find the Colorado notary laws on the SOS website. If\u00a0a violation occurred, it may result in a letter of <strong>admonition<\/strong> or in <strong>disciplinary action<\/strong> against the notary, including training, temporary <strong>suspension<\/strong>, up to a notary <strong>revocation<\/strong> hearing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">When you file a notary complaint, the SOS does not represent you. Any action they take is on behalf of the state and citizens in\u00a0general.\u00a0\u00a0Investigations\u00a0are not designed to provide individual remedies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The SOS does not have jurisdiction to\u00a0decide whether a notarized document is valid for a particular purpose, to invalidate documents,\u00a0or to take any other actions with regard to the documents themselves.
